Chris Tucker

CHRIS TUCKER
Comedian, actor and performer Chris Tucker has been chosen personally by Quincy Jones to serve as a Presenter for the final night of the Bermuda Music Festival, where he will also participate in a special performance which celebrates the life of his good friend Michael Jackson. Having come a long way since his stand-up comedy days on Def Comedy Jam, Tucker has been praised as one of the funniest comics of our time. As an actor, some have hailed him as the next Eddie Murphy; indeed, Murphy was one of Tucker’s icons while growing up. Having starred in leading roles in Rush Hour 3, Rush Hour 2, as well as Friday, Dead Presidents and Money Talks and the original Rush Hour (which has grossed $250 million worldwide), Tucker has clearly proved himself to be one of Hollywood’s hottest talents.
With his unique voice, fast-paced humor, and animated facial expressions, Tucker entertains all audiences and has left a lasting impression on the American psyche. In honor of his proven track record of power as a box-office funnyman, the world’s theatre owners named Tucker, Comedy Star of the Year, at the 2001 ShoWest conference.
In 2002, Tucker traveled to Africa, along with U2 singer Bono and U.S. Secretary of Treasury Paul O’Neil, on a fact finding mission to see how U.S. money would help the African countries wrecked by AIDS, unsanitary living conditions and hunger. Deeply affected by what he saw, Tucker has since been a diplomat of sorts, making it his mission to continue to raise awareness and money to combat the AIDS crisis in Africa. In recognition of his record of accomplishments and his potential to contribute to shaping the future of the world, Tucker was recently made a Young Global Leader by the Forum of Young Global Leaders.
Additionally, Tucker was honored for his philanthropic work both nationally and internationally at the 2009 Trumpet Awards. He has also received an honorary doctorate degree from the historic Talladega College that same year.
